Meet Our Owner

Professional

Taye would say that her love for people and their stories truly began in her high school Psychology and Classic Literature classes. While dreams of becoming a writer filled her head in college, she realized that helping people write their stories in real life was the best way she could contribute to humanity. So, she abandoned being a novelist and set out to become a therapist.

Taye is a SC licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Supervisor. She received a BA in Psychology and a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse University in Spartanburg, SC. She received her clinical training from Emerge Family Therapy Center and Teaching Clinic in Spartanburg, SC. She completed her supervisor training at Heritage Institute in Travelers Rest, SC.

Taye provides mental health counseling to clients, clinical education and supervision to budding and blooming therapists, and collaboration with other organizations to promote mental health and wellness across marginalized communities.

Clinical

Utilizing a mixed approach of Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy, I help my clients gain insight into the origin of their distress, discover an alternative way of seeing themselves, and take intentional steps to make changes in their thoughts, and actions.

In session, I often use humor, sarcasm, and way too many client-centered metaphors. I challenge you on the couch and cheer you into the week. Sometimes I give homework, and sometimes I don't. I can also easily pivot with client feedback.

"I believe in helping people own their stories and discover their strengths. As a systemic therapist, I am passionate about improving clients' wellness by helping them to cultivate thriving relationships with themselves, loved ones, and larger systems."

Personal

“I am proud to be Maryland born, Pee Dee raised, and Upstate settled.

I enjoy reading, writing poetry, and creating planners. My vices are coffee and cheesecake. I’ll take the mountains over the beach, and snow over sand. Fall is my favorite season, but Christmas is my favorite holiday. I am horrible at math, currently trying to learn ASL, hopes to work in academia one day, passionate about community advancement, a Ravens fan, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc."

Rough currents carve and smooth the rivers' stone. Steady waters give the navigator hope for a safer journey.

In life, we will experience the calm and the current, for we are both the stone and the captain.
